Community “Perspektiva”
Regional public organization of people with disabilities “Perspektiva” was established in 1997. Today it is one of the leading organizations defending the rights of people with disabilities in Russia. The goal of the Perspective is to achieve the full inclusion of people with disabilities in all areas of society and improve their quality of life. One of the activities of the organization is the employment of people with disabilities.
The Vinchel Foundation supported the project “Social adaptation and assistance in employment of people with visual impairments”. The project covered 97 people with visual impairments (40 blind and 57 visually impaired) in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Voronezh. They took an active part in the programs and events of the ROOI “Perspektiva”: the competition “Path to Career”, “Career Day”, “Career Prospects”, career guidance excursions, individual support in the process of employment. As a result of the services provided, 34 applicants with visual impairments were employed and determined for long-term internships (10 blind and 24 visually impaired, 27 were employed, 7 were internships). With the rest, work continues on their employment.
A lot of work has been done to educate employers about labor opportunities, debunk existing stereotypes, teach correct terminology and interact with people with visual disabilities. Separate blocks and stations dedicated to the blind and visually impaired were included in the development of seminars and quests. In the cities participating in the project, 22 trainings were held, the participants of which were 573 employees from 18 employers.
As a result of the work carried out, it was possible to involve a number of large international companies-employers in the inclusive employment of people with visual impairments. Among these are EY, Mercedes-Benz, Novartis-Pharma, City, Dr. Reddy`s. To a greater extent, due to the representation of large international companies and the development of the labor market, this was more successful in the city of Moscow.
